Turned out great . . . after some experimenting,
I am glad I purchased these letters. After reading some poor reviews I was a little worried about buying but I couldn’t think of another way to make letters short of buying a cricut cake.
Pros
- in the end the letters turn out cute and they give the cake a clean and professional look (I have always piped letters in the past and it just doesn’t looked as good)
– cheap
Cons
- The letters do not come apart. They are strapped vertically together on ruler looking things in sets of 5.
- You have to roll the fondant/gum paste to to the perfect thickness. If you roll it too thin you lose some of the detail. If you roll it too thick you end up having to cut it out or if you push down harder you get an imprint of the ruler thing holding it together.
Tips for using. Since this took me forever to figure out I’ll share what finally worked for me. I worked with Marshmallow fondant. I added some gum tex and let the fondant sit for a while. When it was really firm I kneaded it using a little shortening until it was workable and rolled it out. The first couple of letters i pulled out came out all stretched but if you put them back into shape on some waxed paper they harden the way they should and still look great. Another option is after rolling out the fondant wait for it to harden a little and then try cutting. If you have enough of the tex in it they pull out nicely without breaking.
In short these letters are kind of a pain but for as inexpensive as they are they are totally worth it.

|pictures and instructions,
I just got this in the mail today. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to get the item because of the lack of information on amazon (no size, how thick letters are, etc). I took a chance and ended up purchasing it because of the “funky” lettering. They are about 1.5 inches in height and the thickness of the letters are a little smaller than 1/4 inch. The instructions say that it’s best to use flower floral paste. I wonder how different that is from fondant, but I guess I’ll find out tonight.

|love it!,
This letter and number cutter has been such a life saver since I don’t have confidence in manually writing on my cakes. I use homemade marshmallow fondant with some tylose powder added to it and that works great with this cutter. I waited to write this review after I’ve used the cutters a few times. The easiest way it has worked for me is when I roll the fondant as thin as I can and I wait a minute or two before cutting the letters. Also, after cutting the letters, I again wait a minute or two before pulling out the letters. Overall, I love this cutter and would definitely recommend it anyone hoping to improve the look of their cakes
